The Bogenriefs' observation that "Life is a Jungle out there", led to the creation of "The Jungle" stained glass panel which measures approximately 10 feet by 12 feet and has details of trees, jungle flora, monkey, elephant, parrots, cockatoo, and other jungle features.
Three years and 20,000 glass pieces later, we have the Jungle Window.
It all began in 2003. Bogenrief Studios were being pursued by many communities to move production to their area. It was to the point that we were not getting much work done. Coming back to the studio one night after many interviews, the work crew was just leaving. We told them to be careful…. It’s a jungle out there. That is when it struck us to come up with a jungle theme window. Of course, we also like to give the craftsmen in the studio a challenge.
Almost every American manufacturer of colored glass is represented in The Jungle.

And the result is a unique Vision and a huge Body of Stained & Beveled Glass Works of Art
This window is called the Sullivan Window. This design is based off a L. Sullivan design. Beveled glass contributes to most of this window. It also incorporates some stained glass as well as a few jewels. The bevels in this window are hand cut and beveled by Bogenrief Studios. Each bevel goes through a five-stage process to create this exquisite look. Lead came is used in this window to create a more linear look. The bevels are made out of 5/16" starfire plate glass.
The Bogenriefs have moved their world class Stained Glass studio to Sutherland, IA. They have been creating exquisite and highly detailed Works of Art in Glass for over a quarter of a century. They create Works of Art that truly push the limits of glass as they are inspired by antique, traditional, and historical themes. This stained glass panel is titled "Sarah" and measures approximately 66 7/8 inches by 50 inches.
While many of the pieces designed and produced at Bogenrief Studios is based on classical design, contemporary art is also transformed into stained glass.
